2 Days in Miami, Florida! Day 1

IMG_1555.PNG

Spontaneous trip? Yes, please! A spontaneous trip to somewhere on a warm beach?! Oh, heck yes!!

My husband and I recently took a road trip down to Miami. Both of us were actually born and lived part of our lives in Florida, but for some reason neither one of us have actually seen much of Miami. The airport doesn’t really count and a quick drive through doesn’t really help get a feel of any place, really. So, of course I was excited to see a bit more of what Miami has to offer!

We stopped off in Orlando for a day, then was able to spend two full days and nights in Miami. If you have been keeping up with my blog, you’ll have already read about our accommodations, which I highly recommend! Click on the following link for more details…My First Airbnb Experience!

The first day we arrived, it was actually raining. *sad face* The silver lining to having bad weather was that we were able to take a nap, while at the same time, not feel that we were missing out on much. Once we woke up, refreshed and renewed, we were starving! So, we decided on a little local authentic Italian place that was referred to us by our Airbnb host called Ni.Do Caffe. They made their mozzarella, pasta, desserts, and more in house! Let me just say…delicious!! I would suggest the burrata(creamy mozzarella) for an appetizer, the ravioli or lasagna for the main course, and the tiramisu for dessert…accompanied by a glass of wine of your choice. Buon appetito!

Wynwood Walls

After we ate dinner, we drove to the famous Wynwood Walls, the coolest open-air street art gallery I’ve ever seen! We spent quite a bit of time exploring the warehouses and surrounding walls covered with amazing street art! For more details about this area and the talented artists visit The Wynwood Walls site!  This is definitely a must see!

“Wynwood’s large stock of warehouse buildings, all with no windows, would be my giant canvases to bring to them the greatest street art ever seen in one place.” ~Tony Goldman

*Travel Tip~ Every second Saturday of the month from 7-10pm there is a Wynwood Art Walk. Enjoy the amazing street art, live street performances, and an array of food trucks.

Wynwood-Walls-1 Then we drove out to South Beach to check out the beach, of course! The sun had already set but it was still light out and the water and sky were just beautiful! The only way I could think to describe the water was that of what you could imagine a mermaid tail to look like, iridescent and many shades of aqua and blue. Maybe it was the time of day or maybe it was that color because it had rained quite a bit earlier that day? I’m not sure, but if you want South Beach practically to yourself, this seemed like the perfect time of day.

Check back soon! I’ll be posting day 2 of our trip…the best place to get a Cuban coffee and sandwich, exploring more of South Beach, and even a great spot to capture some amazing Miami skyline photos! The following photos are captures of my favorite street art in the Wynwood area…hope you enjoy, friends! Happy Travels!
