Confessions of a travel blogger…detours can be fun, right?!

snapseed-47

Where do I even start? I apologize in advance for any confusion I might add to your life by taking the time to read this post. I also apologize for not being the best at posting lately. I’m in a “what the crap am I doing” phase in my life. Ha! Ever been in one of those?

We had a plan, I promise!

We planned on selling our house, taking a cross-country road trip with the family and being open to what life had in store. You see, my husband finished his MBA last May and we knew we wanted to start a business and a fresh start somewhere new. Well, we were given the chance to do just that! However, we are in the middle of the process and although we see amazing potential, we are kind of at a stand still. Don’t get me wrong, we are still moving forward, it’s just not at the pace we had originally hoped for.

When does life ever go exactly the way you plan? I should know better by now, right?

I’m currently typing this post in the house that still hasn’t sold *sigh*, no cross-country road trip as of yet, next month I’ll be job-less, and when our friends and family ask us when we are moving…our answer is ‘not today.’ Don’t even get me started on travel plans, after all, travel bloggers should probably travel, right? *breaks out into laughter* I had planned on traveling to Germany this summer with my parents to finally see where my mom spent most of her childhood and my grandmother’s hometown. Am I still going? The answer is, I have no flipping idea! My poor husband, he keeps apologizing for our life at the moment. Even through all the stress and unknown, I really wouldn’t have it any other way. I tell him, we are in this together…even the parts that make us look like ‘crazy people.’ That being said, don’t believe for a second that I don’t have my times of anxious-worry fits, moments of insanity, and YES, that might be a little something extra in my coffee. *wink, wink*

On the bright side of things!

In life, it’s always good to look at the positive, even after the bad is over, seeing how it made us stronger or taught us something. Right now, I do see how not selling our house yet has been a learning curve. The business we are starting is helping homeowners rent their homes on a short-term basis and providing them with a full-service management team that helps with preparing their home to be rented, to booking guests, and everything in between. Click on the following link, if your interested Pineapple Plush Homes. We have been renting our home to get experience; not only do we love it, we are only a few bookings away from receiving ‘super host’ status! Where do we stay when renting our house? Good question! If we aren’t traveling, we stay with family. Strange, I know, but oddly enough, I’m starting to embrace the strange. (what is happening to me?) Even though I haven’t been able to travel overseas in awhile, I have been able to enjoy several mini-trips out of town and even celebrated my daughter’s sixteenth birthday at Disney. To read about our trip click on the following link…How I afford travel. I also understand how blessed I am to have traveled as often as I already have (I’m heading to the beach for a wedding and family reunion at the end of the month #excited), and I’m very grateful for that! However, I am not content and plan on traveling any opportunity I get. There is a whole lot of world out there, and I intend to see and experience plenty more of it!

Not really sure why I felt the need to share all of this with you? Maybe I wanted to get it all out there in the open to look back one day (soon, I hope) and remember this time of my life and how this waiting period taught me the things I needed to learn to get to the next chapter. Maybe some of you reading this post needed to see someone else not having it all figured out (even in my thirties *face-palm*) and see that it’s okay. What is it again, that I hear said often? The journey, after all, is the destination! So, if you made it this far in this post, thanks! Thanks for listening to this not traveling at the moment travel blogger ramble a bit. I hope to be writing about distant places elsewhere very soon and for the conclusion of what seems like a never ending detour, well, that is going to have to be told in another post…here’s hoping for a good ending!

Happy Travels, friends! Any summer travel plans?

Enjoyed this post. We’re in a very similar position right. The constant strain in life is demanding flexibility, and I’m no dancer, so it’s a very concentrated effort. ?

Yesss! Jacob we are SO excited about your new adventure! Praying for favor and the “flexibility” you need for much success for you and your sweet family ☺️?

I never dreamed at my age, I’d be in a position of being up in the air, with my life. I have no clue what this season will bring. I appreciate your post.

Yeah. I feel ya. I’ve always considered myself an outrageously flexible person, but the constant change is beginning to wear on me :/ I’m looking forward to some constancy in this next season. I already feel like I am able to take a deep breath since arriving in Florida- but I’m looking forward to the new sense of stability πŸ™‚

    1. andelec says:

Yay for deep breaths! So happy for this next season of your life, Natasha:-) Excited to see you soon!!

You got this! Even though it feels like nothing is happening, you’re slowly building the next thing… little by little. I turned my life upside down as well and I know my life is nuts right now but the risk takers have the most fun. Just have to take it day by day and have faith it’ll work out for the best. CANNOT WAIT to see your cross country pics πŸ˜‰ WHOO!

PS: Umm is that your house? It’s gorgeous!

    1. andelec says:

Thank you for the encouragement, Wendy:-) I appreciate your kind and thoughtful words! Day by day is definitely the way to go and seems the pace I’m going at the present time…for planning, that is;-) Haha!

This house is now a museum in Fayetteville, NC…it is named after its original owner, Edgar Allan Poe (a local business man, not the famous author) My house is just a tad smaller;-)
