My LA Foodie Favorites!

snapseed-79

A half an hour before opening, we were standing in line at The Broad Museum and struck up a conversation with the couple in front of us. One is a LA local and the other a recent college grad from San Diego. The topic of lunch brought about all kinds of excitement! We compared notes of places we had planned on going to…I paused for a second. I asked my new foodie friend if I our talk of how to decide if you’re eating a proper bowl of Pho was boring her. She responded, “Are you kidding?! Food is LIFE!” I can’t even remember her name, but at this point I don’t care…we are now friends forever.

Best Places to Eat in LA

French Cafe in Silver Lake, Cafe Stella

This classy yet relaxed cafe was just steps away from our Airbnb. We decided to brunch here on a Saturday afternoon and we were pleasantly surprised by the delicious dishes they served…Eggs Benedict (Salmon or Bacon served on a bed of hash browns), Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, and I will never forget the most yummy Creme Brûlée (topped with raspberries) that I have ever tasted! *swoon* It is definitely a must for any foodie who loves to brunch!!

Vietnamese Restaurant in LA

We had just arrived at our home away from home and were exhausted and oh, so hungry (I would say ‘hangry’ even) when we discovered this little asian gem nearby. We ordered fresh spring rolls and two bowls of Pho. I can honestly say it was like being hugged by a bowl of yumminess! Have you ever been hugged by noodles? It’s a wonderful experience. *closes eyes and smiles at the thought of said meal* This was the only restaurant we ate at twice because who doesn’t like to be hugged by their noodles, right?!

Grand Central Market Downtown LA

This next place is simply the best, a foodie paradise if you will! Tacos, burritos, pizza, sushi, vegan choices, noodles…everyone and anyone can satisfy any food craving here at Grand Central Market! I had read about various places here online, to include the ever so popular Egg Slut (the line was literally wrapped around this entire place). We chose to eat at Tacos Tumbras A Tomas because, well…burritos, duh! Order the Carne Asada Burrito, your welcome!

Grand Central Market

Asian Fusion Restaurant in Culver City

In their very own words, Lukshon is…

Lukshon is a drink and a bowl of noodles at the bar, an intimate dinner under the calm of an LA evening on the patio, a celebration in the elegant and comfortable booths, a night shared with friends and strangers at the communal table, the theatre of a completely open kitchen, the rattle and hum of the service, the teak walls with hand-crafted flower inlays; it is the fusion of style and function.

And let’s not forget to talk about the food! Chef Sang Yoon gives your taste buds a delightful surprise in each and every bite! Airbnb actually made this lovely dining experience possible! My husband and I had the pleasure of experiencing this restaurant for dinner along with two other Airbnb hosts and an Airbnb employee (online engineer). Every course was delicious, inspiring even (I say inspiring because I had never tasted anything quite like it, in a good way). We enjoyed dishes like…

tea leaf salad cabbage, crispy chana dal, marcona almonds, peanuts, sesame, blue prawn

cold sesame noodles farmers’ market vegetables, sesame dressing, scallions, peanuts

beef and broccoli prime hanger steak, grilled gai lan, black bean ghee, puffed tendon

…and let’s not forget dessert!

coconut dark chocolate “rocks”

passion fruit, chocolate black pepper crumble, toasted coconut sand

This dessert was LIFE CHANGING, you guys!!!

A BIG ‘thank you’ is in order for Airbnb for making us feel appreciated and loved!

Best Pizza in LA

You know how the saying goes…

“You can’t make everyone happy, you’re not a pizza!”

TRUTH! And these two made us ever so happy! When you’re having a pizza craving in LA, you should definitely give these places a try!

Garage Pizza & Abbot’s Pizza Co.

Best Ice Cream in LA, like ever!

I leave you with my top place to eat in LA with this amazing establishment…Salt and Straw!!!!! (extra exclamations for effect) This ice cream is simply incredible! We were at the Abbot Kinney Blvd. location just before Thanksgiving, so they had some strange flavors like mashed potato and gravy, what?! Sounds gross, doesn’t it? Well, when they asked me if I wanted to try it, I was like umm, not really! Haha! I tried it, anyway. You guys, it actually tasted good somehow! I’m telling you, this place is magical…like seeing unicorns, magical! After taste testing like every flavor, I chose the Honey Lavender. It has now become my new favorite ice cream flavor of all time! I just saw that you can have five pints of any flavor shipped to your door for $65 (worth every freaking penny). I’m seriously considering ordering this for me and my husband for Christmas! Sorry kids, mommy no share! Haha!

Salt and Straw

I absolutely loved experiencing the LA food scene! What about you? Where are your LA foodie favorites?
