My first experience with Airbnb hosting, part 2

IMG_1710

Hello everyone! As promised, I’m sharing with you the outcome of my first hosting experience with Airbnb. If you haven’t already read my previous post, click on the following link to get up to speed…Airbnb Hosting Part 1!

My mind rushed with so many questionable thoughts…”Did they trash the place?” “Did they enjoy their stay?” “Are my neighbors going to complain?” “If they used the fireplace, will I have a house to come back to? Haha!” “What has my husband gotten me into?”

I am happy to report that everything went smashingly (no, nothing was broken, lol) WELL!! Yay! Actually, as I’m writing this post I have linens in the wash to be put on the beds for my next guest arrival this week. The exciting thing for me about this next booking is that it will totally fund my travel to Miami this weekend!! When I started this blog, I had hoped that it would not only inspire others to travel more, but that someday, I would possibly earn travel income. Little did I know, I was living in (literally) the reality of that dream already…I just couldn’t see it yet. This is SO inspiring to me and I am BEYOND thrilled!

*Travel Blog Rant- Never ever ever give up on your dreams! You never know just how close you are to experiencing those dreams as a reality! Rant over;-)

Okay, I do realize that this is just the beginning of figuring out how I am going to travel the entire globe, but I am celebrating this little achievement non the less. Now, back to my hosting experience…

Our first guests were just what I’d hoped for. They were considerate (the neighbors had no complaints), and they left the place just they way they found it. I only had to clean and wash the bedding when we returned. We also got to know the husband a bit more when he returned our key. We learned that he and his wife want to retire in Texas and become cattle farmers. So interesting! I love that Airbnb gives travelers not only the chance to stay in places that locals live in and do life, but it also provides opportunities for them to meet interesting people and to learn more about one another.

Did you know that guests are also reviewed on Airbnb, not just the hosts? This helped me when deciding whether or not to become an Airbnb host. Any host can read reviews on the guest before excepting a booking! Great feature, in my opinion.

Well, there you have it, friends. My first of probably many experiences with Airbnb hosting! Thanks for reading and please leave a comment below if you have any questions:-)

TADA! (Travel’s a dance away…or in this case, only just another booking away;-))

  1. Yay, I’m glad it went well! I think it’s wonderful that you’re able to earn income while traveling…how genius is that?! I like that they review guests too, that way you know what to expect from the people staying in your home. I hope they leave you a good review too! 😉

Deanna, you should definitely try Airbnb sometime! Look for places with good reviews or even better, look for someone with the Super Host badge…this should help with the chances of your experience being a good one:-) Thanks for reading!
